At the Thanjavur Book Festival 2023, which was started on Friday by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, two kiosks were set up exclusively to receive books from donations for the benefit of inmates and to promote the works of local writers/poets.

The organizers have set aside a stall just for book donations to be distributed across various prisons/jails throughout the state to encourage convicts to read.

Out of the 110 book stalls set up to display books released in more than 5,000 topics by various publishers, another table was set aside to promote the works of Thanjavur district writers/poets.

In addition, 15 stalls have been set up to emphasize Thanjavur's historical significance and pride, while another 15 stalls have been set up to display and sell traditional Thanjavur food.

Another new feature added to the book fair this year was a partnership with India Posts to deliver books to friends by post directly from the Book Festival venue, according to Mr. Poyyamozhi.

The book fair will be open through July 24 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. As part of the book festival, several literary and cultural programs will be hosted at the Thanjavur Palace Complex in Thanjavur.
